Our first yr hsing our almost 10yods. All is going well however I was indecisive from the get go about science and what to use. We're doing ancients with sotw and in our reading (for the most part) . I was going to follow what wtm recommends but I keep leaning toward something more diverse. Any suggestions?

I am in *love* with RS4K (real science for kids).
Some find it dry but it's so quick and easy to get through but it's so rigorous and sound at the same time.
I make up bingo games and other activities to help memorize the 'fact' parts like combination reaction, decomposition reaction, exchange reaction etc etc. She loves the labs (but not the labsheets....dysgraphic, hates writing) so I help a lot there.
it's 10 weeks if you do it weekly.....then you can do physics and bio in the same year if you so desire. we also use the Noeo book 'living books' recommendations to round things out.
She's very familiar with the periodic table, how to find atomic mass, number of protons, neutrons and electrons by looking at the info on the periodic table.
I am loving this program. Oh, and fwiw, to make things easier for me, I did order the rs4k level one supply kit from

This is our 2nd year using it. It's a hit and easy peasy to follow. I order the student book and answer key from CLP. I love that I can use this without a TM.

I am using Mr. Q's Classic Science: Elementary Life Science with my almost 11 yr old, if you are following the WTM rotation in science along with history:
http://www.eequalsmcq.com/
We add in some extra reports and activities he does along with his younger brother, who is doing the WTM recs for biology the first go 'round..

If you are looking for a Christian series, then Apologia!
We used it last year and loved it, but left it for "greener pastures". After six weeks I knew I'd made a mistake. I decided to dump what we'd purchased and go back to Apologia and my boys were ecstatic.
