I am using All About Spelling with my last ds (age 9). He is a struggling speller but doing really well with this program. I really like this program and wonder if it is stupid to mess with something that is working. My main problem with it is the price. It is $29.99 per book and there will be six levels. I just hate to spend that much on the last child when I there are other academic areas that we need to spend it on. I am wondering if I could get the same results with either of the other two programs mentioned or if I should just be thankful this is working and leave things as they are. If any one has had experience with either of these programs could you compare them to AAS for me? Thanks.

My 8 year old dd uses All About Spelling, and my 11 year old ds uses Sequential Spelling. They are very different programs. AAS teaches phonograms and spelling rules. Sequential Spelling doesn't. It is based on word families and patterns. To get a better idea of how Sequential Spelling works you can see samples here.

I am using two different programs because each of my dc have different learning styles, and you might want to this when chosing a program.
