2 homeschool moms & 4 kids with a friend who's a prof. of engineering @ Cal Poly Pomona. Lots of talk about hands-on learning, the chance to see inside a machine shop, CAD design shop, and foundry, as well as lots of models in the architecture buildings. Discouraging entry statistics for architecture (5%, or 100 out of >2000 entering freshmen) plus it's a 5-year program followed by extended study (>3 yr) for licensure. But a chance for ds to consider other alternatives where he could still be "hands-on." (I think it's the model building part that appeals to him about architecture anyway.) Hopefully they all came home with some ideas for primary/backup plans and a renewed commitment to making their teacher happy by working hard & mastering the material.
