Would love to hear about how it worked out. I'm considering this for my daughter for next year. Currently we are doing the K12 3rd grade lit, which we are moving through pretty quickly (probably won't take all year). I like the multiple styles of literature addressed, the workbook, having it all laid out, etc that we have had with K12, but it's too expensive to do for one course, especially when I'm happy with my grammar, spelling, vocabulary, etc. already.
Her reading level, spelling, vocabulary, etc are all well above 3rd grade. I've had Lightning Lit recommended, but I'm a bit concerned that jumping to a 7th grade program is going to be a bit much of a leap. The Mosdos Coral looks like it might fit the bill.

Coral Level is for 5th grade so unless your daughter is quite advanced, you might want to wait. It seems to require a greater amount of writing and thinking skills an older child would have.
I PM'd you, as well.

My ds is using the Pearl book this year for the first time. It's a hit so far! We only use the student reader which has plenty of meat...Not the way the program is meant to be used, but it's plenty, IMO.
I was very impressed with it.I thought it was of much better quality than the typical fare available for elementary age children. Most texts seem very watered down and written at a younger grade level than they should be.The TE had tons of information about literary devices.I used it for my 5th grader and felt that it would have been just as appropriate for use by 6th or even 7th graders. We didn't get as much use out of the workbook. We used the vocabulary pages but skipped most of the writing. It is a large textbook. We never did complete the whole book.I miss using it.I wanted to order it this year but got something else because it cost less. What I have is ok but I just think we would have gotten more out of using Mosdos. They are supposed to be coming out with a 4th grade level at some point (and I want to get that for youngest dd).Last I saw on their website, they were saying next year. They do have a short story collection that I haven't seen yet.It costs less than the textbooks but may not be enough for a full years worth of work.Another good point in their favor,at least to me, is that the student textbooks (judging by the coral text)are hardcover and very durable. It will last for years.

Is the TM necessary? I have 2 guys to buy for and sharing is out. So if I can get by without it, that is a plus.

Did you use the test masters cd or does the book or TM contain assessments of some sort?

In my opinion, no. We're doing just fine without it. There is plenty of meat in the student reader. Check the Mosdos site for samples.

The test masters were obscenely expensive. I think they were priced with school systems in mind, not homeschoolers.
I did not feel the lack of assessments. I graded her work and called it good. It was pretty easy to figure out if she got it or not.

I tried Coral with my dd beginning of this school year but she balked at the number of pages she has to read. I would love for her to do it since I had a wonderful time going through Jade with my ds12. Instead, she's doing BJU reading right now. Just like the other poster said, this Coral can be used for grades 6 and that's what I'm thinking of doing.
Mosdos has high quality selections, mostly anthologies and snippets of readings from book. You can easily add in readers and go through other read-alouds. They introduce detailed literary analysis early on but what I would do is not go through each and every single idea. That would take the enjoyment out of reading for my girls. At this stage, they like to enjoy the stories but at the same time, when something catches their attention, they discuss it in detail that I get to sneak in the literary analysis also.
I don't use the workbook except for the vocabulary work and get writing ideas once in a while.
A gem.
