Wow! My first real autumn! So much history. And wonderful people and memories. : ) Our 3 week trip to the east coast included:

Pennsylvania:
- Philadelphia (Liberty Bell, Philadelphia Mint, Franklin Science Center, Jim's Philly Cheesesteaks)
- Valley Forge
- Gettysburg

Massachusettes:
- Boston (USS Constitution, Freedom Trail, Modern Pastery shop for yummy cannoli!)
- Rockport (autumn leaves, clam chowder, New England small town atmosphere)

New Jersey:
- Rutt's Hut (deep fried hot dogs called "rippers")
- Liberty State Park (back of the Statue of Liberty and NYC/Manhattan skyline)
- Barnegat Lighthouse
- Cape May Ferry crossing (we saw jellyfish swimming!)

Washington DC:
- Holocaust Museum
- Capitol building tour
- Library of Congress
- Smithsonian (Natural History and Aerospace Museums)
- Arlington Cemetary
- various memorials on the Mall
- National Archives (Constitution and Declaration of Independence)
- National Art Gallery

Virginia:
- Monticello
- Colonial Williamsburg
- Virginia Beach (a day at the beach -- we saw crabs and skates!)

South Carolina:
- visited family
- War Between the States Museum
- Kalmia Gardens and a lovely boardwalk hike in a cyprus swamp!

Whew! We're exhausted, but had a great time. But glad to be home again! So there's my "report" that someone here asked me to give when I got back... heehee! Hugs all around, Lori D.

So jealous! I miss the fall most of all, living here in England. There's a bit of yellow, but most of the leaves just turn brown and die. Rumor has it that there are some fall colors in the Lake District--four hours away. Maybe I'll make a trip up there!

I'm glad that you enjoyed your vacation.

Oh, drat, sounds like you drove right by me on I-95! Next time, plan a stop in eastern North Carolina.

Thanks for all your warm wishes and welcome backs, ladies! : ) All that history and landscape was wonderful, but next time (if we can ever afford a next time -- lol!) I'm coming for coffee and a visit with each of you, all up and down each coast -- you ladies are all the best! : )
