Christiana Skating Rink, Newark, DE has started speed skating practices with the potential that next year they will have a speed skating team. Presently the practices are FREE. This is open to skaters ranging in age from 4yo to 65yo.
There are three requirements for skating at these practices. The skater must:
wear a helmet
wear their own skates (in-line, hockey or quad are permitted)
follow all rink rules including no profanity.
We have been to two practices and have found the coaches to be very nice, great skaters with years of speed skating experience, and quite positive. The coaches are very willing to answer parents questions too. The group is presently small in size with many knowledgeable adult skaters.
Practice is on Sunday morning starting at 8am and finishing at 10am, just in time for late Sunday morning church service. The rink opens just after 7:30am and skating begins at 8am.
