I recently found out that I can not access all the free ebooks and audiobooks offered at the Library b/c it is not Mac compatible. I have a Palm Treo but we updated to Mac computers a few months back. I want to get the Magic Tree house and other series for my son to listen and follow along to so I thought it would be nice to download them to my Treo and he could listen off it. Any suggestions.

Really, this should not be difficult (I'm saying this to your library, not to you!). Audiobooks should be a no-brainer. Why is your library messing this up?
That's okay. Go into your iTunes music store. Click on "iTunes U" - it will be a link on the left-hand side. Then, under the list of universities choose "University of South Florida."
Now, click on the link for the College of Education.
If you scroll down a bit, you will see a link for Lit2Go. TONS of stuff there. No Magic Tree House, but Alice in Wonderland, Hans Christian Andersen stories, The Wizard of Oz, Sherlock Holmes, Treasure Island, etc.
HTH!

its something to do with WMP and mac not having licensing. thanks for the link. do you know of other free sites that may have more contemporary fiction and or simple non fiction books for elementary kids? actually even stuff like the ny times bestsellers for me would be helpful.

That U of Florida database is amazing! It really ought to be featured as a thread opener. (This new style means stuff like this gets lost so easily!) here's a link: http://etc.usf.edu/lit2go/
To the OP: Have you checked out Librivox?
It won't have any of the latest and greates as it only provided recordings of works in the public domain--but you'd be amazed how much exists without copyright!
For the youngers--I've just recently discovered Storynory and it's a great fit with my seven year old!

iTunes has Magic Tree House to purchase. I doubt you are going to find free sources for newer books that are also legal sources. You may want to check what audiobooks you library has on cd then you could rip them to your computer. My library says they are ok with that because it is the only way to listen to them on out ipods.
