Hair color - should I have 3/4 inch roots a week and a half later (m)

I had my hair done about a week and a half ago. I have asked her in the past to pay special attention to the base of the hair. (I have highlights put in.) Anyway, it has been sort of bugging me that I have alot of each strand or chunk of hair at the root that is dark. I sort of feel like she is forcing me to come in for color more often. If you have highlights does your stylist color pretty close to your scalp? I really don't know much about this. Seems like a petty complaint but it costs alot and it is tough to find a sitter during the day!

I believe my hairdresser told me that hair grows about 1" per month. If you are seeing dark roots after only 1 1/2 weeks, then your hairdresser is not doing the highlights correctly. You need to switch to someone that will take better care of the highlights. Good luck.:)
