My ds and I have been using Rod & Staff english for a couple of years now...we would like to rest from it and come back to it maybe when his in the 8th grade. I was wondering what other grammar program are recommended?
Thank you in advance for the recommendations.

It's a workbook format so a welcomed change of pace from the text format of R&S. Honestly, he hated grammar w/ R&S but now confesses that grammar is his favorite subject b/c of GWG. It is a thorough program like R&S but w/out the writing exercises. I think level 5 (grade 5) is out now w/ 6 coming soon. Not sure how old your dc is.
I recommend Bob Jones - it is really good!

I second Growing with Grammar. She plans to release a new grade level each year up to 8th, I believe. We are sticking with it til the end. I must say I am tempted by what I have read about FLL for the younger set, though.

I reviewed both on my blog. Good luck finding something that works!

hijacking thread here....:o
Oldest son wants a break from Rod and Staff. If we do take a break can we easily go with Easy Grammar for one year then go back to Rod and Staff the next year?
Thanks

We are breaking from R&S to go with Analytical Grammar. It looks doable and faster than R&S and we are going to be adding IEW and LL to our language arts so we need the breathing room.
then how about Learning Language Arts Through Literature, Sonlight, or Total Language Plus?
Are you thinking something literature-based?
