It's freezing in our house, ok, freezing for me!!! 61 degrees right now. Somethings up with our furnace or condenser thingy outside. We bought this house last year as a foreclosure, so there were no homeowners to ask about the furnace, a/c, etc. I don't want to spend the money to fix whatever's wrong *whine*

I HATE being cold and I HATE that I might have to spend money on this right now.

Ok, whine over, uggh! Thanks for listening.

Have you changed or cleaned (if they are the cleaning kind) the filters? My furnace will basically shut down if the filters are clogged (not enough air gets through for the furnace to work properly). I hope that will do it - if not, it sounds like time for a call to the furnace guy.

I second checking the filter. Most should be changed monthly. A small space heater might get you through the cold spell.

I live in a wintry climate, and need my heater 24/7. Hope yours is fixed soon.

My husband is 'the furnace guy' and a lot of times people pay so much to have him out when they never changed the filters. You should be changing your filter every 2 months during the winter.

Another typical problem is the flame sensor. Google how to clean it, usually with sandpaper.

Good luck!

:o That about sums that up. I don't remember when we changed the filter  I KNOW it wasn't in January and December was such a blur...maybe November?! I know that I couldn't get it in last time and dh had to do it. I'll have to go take a look.

We are getting warm air coming out of the vent, just very, very little. And I would think that if the furnace was broken, it would be colder than 62 (it came up a little) degrees. I sure hope it is that easy.

Friends gave us the number of their furnace guy but dh wants to give it one more night since it's been cold here. Same friends are letting dh pick up a heater to use tonight, so that will help.

Thanks for letting me whine :) After us all having the flu/sinus infection/stomach virus (well only dh), I just don't want to deal with anything else.

Great! I'm so glad that you didn't have to spend mega bucks to be warm again.
