Are the DVD's a "can't live without"?
I have the TM and CD. Will order workbook soon. I was going to order the DVDs as well, but if they aren't worth it then I don't want to waste my money.
Thanks

In my opinion, you should do just fine without the DVDs. I would certainly not call them a "can't live without." I would definitely have the workbook but you should find the TM very easy to use. I saved my money and didn't get the DVDs and we're moving along just fine with dd6. I'd spend the money on something else... or at least see how it goes for you without the DVDs at first. You can always pick them up later if you find yourself struggling. But that's just me, I'm more likely to regret spending money on something I didn't need than be upset that I had to wait an extra couple of weeks for something that it turns out I did.

Um. We didn't use them, and we're all still alive! :) In some ways, we would have been better off without the CD, actually. The girl on the CD is very inconsistant with the pronunciation of certain vowels (changing from word to word). We stopped using it about half-way through, unless I was unsure about how to *accent* the syllables of a word.
We're half-way through Latina Christiana I, now. We're still not using any DVDs. I don't know if we'd be better off *with* them, but we're not sinking without them. We do better without the interuption of having to go watch a DVD. It's easier for us to just pick up the book, chant through the vocabulary, sayings, and prayers, and talk a little about the grammar (not much of that in Prima Latina). We have our own rhythm that may not resemble any other traditional Latin classroom, but it works for us.
I'd say, try it without the DVD, and see how it goes.

We didn't use the DVD's either. We didn't get the DVD's until LCII. ds and I did PL orally and most of LCI together, now I'm just trying to keep up:)

I had a different experience with the Prima Latina DVDs. I thought they were invaluable to our Latin studies. I don't think I would have continued Latin without the PL & LCI DVDs. However, I had no Latin background when we started. If you are comfortable or familiar with Latin, then the DVDs are probably not necessary. In my case, they taught me how to set up a Latin lesson, how to pronounce the Latin letters and words, and how to chant. If I hadn't had such a smooth beginning to Latin, I don't think we would be working through our 4th year of Latin now.
I agree with Beth! The DVD's have been a lifesaver for me. I have no Latin background and I would not be sailing so smoothly right now with Latin had I not the DVD's.

I think I will get the DVDs. I was going to but then I thought I'd ask for opinions first. Thanks a lot! :)

I have not read the other posts, but I have never used them. When I used Prima Latina, I used the CD, workbook, and teacher's manual. I loved the program.

Looks like you've decided but I'll throw another vote out for not needing the DVDs. I have no Latin background at all but the teacher's guide has been plenty clear and the CD was helpful. It's all we've needed at this level.
