Anyone know of lesson plans for the MTH series that have a more religious historical view, away from magic and more towards biblical stories that correlate? We're doing a co-op based on the books and want to bring in biblical stories or references of God to those stories that correspond. I know many don't, like the dolphins, revolutionary war, etc, but some of the others definitely do tie in and before we reinvent the wheel I thought I'd check. Feel free to PM me if you want or just reply if you have links.
Thanks

Having listened to or read most of the books, I can't think of any that would fit with Biblical stories. About the closest you get to biblical times is Pompeii or ancient Greece beginning the Olympics.
Hopefully I am remembering wrong...if so just consider this a bump.;)
Good Luck. It sounds like a fun idea.

I have a dear friend who is a Christian, and she uses the MTH books for her kids as the whole spine of their first grade year. She posted recently on her blog about it, and if you drop her a note, she might be able to tell you more about how she links Bible stories to the books, etc. :)
Here's her blog address:

and here's the link to her most recent post on using the MTH books:

The history is so abominable that I would NOT use it for anything but fun reading.
There are crocodiles in the moat in the middle ages book, and it really, REALLY doesn't get any better. In fact, it reinforces some of the silliest myths about Pilgrims, Vikings, Egyptians, pirates, etc.
Diane Stanley has some Time Travel Twins books that I'd recommend many more times more highly. Also, check out Lloyd Alexander's Time Cat.

My Book Club class just finished reading a couple MTH books and today I presented them with a "contest"...for next week, they each need to present a concept for a new Jack and Annie adventure, set at a Biblical time and place.
None of the existing books really seems Biblically oriented, so I thought this would be fun. Maybe you could do something with this?

I agree.
I let my kids read them, but purely for enjoyment. The "history" is horrendous!:iagree:
