If you've used this, how did you like it? I'm trying to find something for Bible for next year. Any info would be appreciated

Thanks!

What I call "Bible" from R&S starts in 5th grade. The curriculum I think of as reading comprehension (but is Biblically-based) begins in 1st. I have always used both w/my boys--oldest is in 8th grade now. They have learned SO MUCH with it. It is very straightforward (as is everything from R&S!) and methodical. No fluff.

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask more questions--I'll try to answer.

Yes, I was referring to the bible curriculum that starts in 5th grade. Thanks for clarifying.

You're welcome, Karie! I wanted to be sure to make that clear because I have heard people call the Bible Nurture and Reader series "Bible" and I wanted to make sure you and I were on the same wavelength!

I am using it this year with my 4th and 5th grader and I really like it. It isn't just your typical read the verse and fill in the blank - it requires them to think critically. Sometimes the answer isn't spelled out word for word in the verse, but it is in there. They introduce how to use a Bible dictionary and concordance and there is some teaching on how things were in Bible times. This is one of the few Bible programs that I feel is very meaty and informative and yet has good application. We normally do one chapter a week. At the end of the week when they have competed all the sections for that chapter, we discuss it and I use the discussion helps in the teacher book. I have even learned some things I had not realized before by using this program. I highly recommend it!

I wanted to share my take on Rod and Staff Bible and Nurture (grades 1-4). Since the stories are more broad and meaty than most Bible story books, I have no qualms about counting them for "Bible." It depends on what you are concentrating on - reading comprehension, or Bible content.

The Bible and Nurture series is chronological, meaty, includes geography, and would certainly fulfill my requirements for grammar stage Bible. It's certainly more in-depth than other Bible programs I have seen for that age. In fact, we found it nearly ideal.
