I don't know about Grand Valley's engineering program. Since you are in MI, another program you should look into if you haven't is Michigan Tech in Houghton up in the UP. Michigan Tech has a similar small school feel and engineering is one of its largest majors. The graduates I know (friends and family) are all doing well in industry nearly 30 years on. It has been over 10 years since I've visited Houghton, though.
