I like the literature portion of the K12 3rd grade language arts material we have, but the cost is a bit prohibitive for what we really need going forward (it isn't available through the state where we are). They bundle spelling, grammar, literature, writing and test prep in those areas together.
I am happy with our spelling (Spelling Power), have a writing program I think will work (Classical Writing Aesop + monthly writing club at the library) as well as a grammar program (Growing with Grammar). Another consideration is that we seem to be moving through it rather quickly, so I don't think it's going to take us an entire year to do the 3rd grade literature (language arts is her strong point).
Anyone know of any literature courses that are secular and set up similar to the K12? I like the variety of working with poetry, short stories, novels, nonfiction books, etc. I like the introduction of various literary terms that I would probably forget if I had to do it myself and I really like having it all laid out in lessons for me with the teacher guide. It doesn't have to have the novel studies as I can find comprehension guides for those elsewhere, but it wouldn't hurt.
