We just gave her a computer we weren't using. We don't play PC games here, so not sure what to get her. She needs a teen level of difficulty. The computer runs Windows XP.
I've heard a lot about the Sims, but my head gets dizzy looking at all the possibilities. What would be a good version of this to start with?
What about that zoo game I've heard about? I don't remember its name.
Any other suggestions?

Zoo Tycoon! You can buy it and some of the expansion packs as "The Zookeepers Collection." We love it, here. I even play it on my own sometimes :D

The Sims are great. Just get Sims 2 for PC. If she likes it, she can get expansion packs to add on to it.

Yep, Sims 2 is where you want to start.
Obsessed, that is what she'll be, obsessed!!
When I used to play Sims and my kids would ask me for things, in my mind's eye I would see their little need meter above their heads.

Yes, Zoo Tycoon is great! I have the complete collection...it includes the expansion packs for Marine and Dinosaurs!

like the Nancy Drew mystery games on CD-rom? My almost 13yo dd just loves these. They are fun, not too difficult and have lots of interesting puzzles. She could just pick up where she left off if she doesn't have the time/desire to continually keep up with the Sims type games. :)

Thanks so much to all of you!! I have been researching these games online and I think she will really enjoy them. (In fact, I think *I* would enjoy them! Trying to hold off so I don't get addicted to something else.....)
I am noticing DVD versions of some of these games, and figure that fits them onto one disc rather than several. Is that right? It would certainly be easier for her to handle a single disc.

We are Nancy Drew game fans here - my daughters love them but they are challenging enough for an adult. A funny - our 24yo son came home for Christmas a couple years ago and got addicted to playing them!
