I'll be off-line for awhile, but any last minute ideas for us as we tour Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, Virginia? : ) Warmly, Lori D.

in the Boston area, the John Adams/John Quincy Adams historical site in Quincy, MA is terrific. The tour includes two houses, one of which is John Quincy Adam's large house with his Presidential library in the back. Incredibly, almost all of the furnishings in the house were saved over the years and are original, as is the collection of books in the library. The trolley tour costs you a few bucks each, but we really liked it.
Also, if you or your family members like old airplanes & spacecraft, the Smithsonian opened a large museum near Dulles airport in Virginia called the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (http://www.nasm.si.edu/UdvarHazy/).
We really enjoyed Independence Hall and the National Consitution Museum in Philadelphia. If you have time, Gettysburg is a few hours dive East of Philly.
Also in Baltimore is Fort McHenry, the fort where the Star Spangled Banner was written.
Forgot to mention that Mount Vernon, George Washington's home, in Virginia (not far from DC) is very beautiful and gives you a real feel for what the plantation life must have been like.
Hope you have a fun (and educational) trip!
