Can anyone help me with some titles of chapter books that deal with kindness other than Shiloh? This is for homeschool coop consisting of boys/girls and high 2nd grade level in the same reading level as Stuart Little for example.

Thanks in advance.

I have heard of the series Henry Huggins, the title character being an example of a kind boy, but I haven't read it myself (yet; we own it).

How about Molly's Pilgrim? It's especially appropriate since we're sort of close to Thanksgiving. How about The Hundred Dresses? I'm not sure what age the children in the co-op are, but these woul work well with lower to middle elementary, I think.

ETA: Ooh, now I see that you said it's upper second grade. I'm not sure what the reading levels of these books are. HTH anyway.

I love the Value Tales series, but I don't think they are chapter books.

The Hundred Dresses is fantastic. Also, as you move towards Christmas, consider The Lion in the Box.

The Chronicles of Prydain by Llyod Alexander (series) deal a LOT about kindness, justice, forgiveness, right vs wrong, misjudging people, etc.

All of A Kind Family series. We just read some at bedtime. I wouldn't say it is about kindness, but it is set about 100 years ago and emphasizes the values of the time and family.
