I noticed last night that my cross necklace was missing. The necklace is special to me as a Christian because of what it stands for. However, it is how I got the cross that is the part of this that is totally making me sick to my stomach. For the first several years we were together, every time my dh asked me what I wanted for birthday/Christmas/etc., I would say a really nice cross necklace. He never did get me the necklace. After the birth of our first child, he surprised me with the cross. It was the first time he had ever completely surprised me with a gift. The fact that he gave it to me after the birth of our first child made it such a special gift.
Anyway, I found the chain on the floor this morning. Best guess, it must have come off during the day yesterday, and I did not realize it. Worst part, the chain appears to have been "chewed on" - the clasp is all mangled. So, I am led to believe since I found the chewed on chain, and not the cross, that our Golden Retriever puppy has eaten one of the most special gifts I have ever received. I am willing to, um, sift through the poo to find it, however, we live on over 30-fenced acres. The dogs regularly go to the pond, and the creek, and the field. There is no way I could find and pinpoint yesterday's piles.
