So, tell me what is the point of having "friends" on the boards?

After reading Chris in CA's thread I'm wondering, is there a point to having "friends" attached to our profile? I don't get it...:confused: I'm all for having fun on the boards but am I missing something here?:bigear:

I didn't get it at first either. It's just a fun way of expressing appreciation for fellow posters and telling them you like them. At least that's my take on it.

It's just to have fun. (Interestingly, this was a huge debate on another forum when they added the same thing...some people were afraid it would start a "high school" mentality). I mostly use them to find out if my friends are on the boards at the moment...I love the visitor messages...still public, but you can write a quick hello.

Well, I can tell you I was actually floored that so many fabulous ladies asked me to be friends. I think it is a great way to reach out and say "hey -- I like what you post," or "I want to make it easier to chat" or whatever.

I honestly really enjoy this forum and the people here. I don't have many people in real life to chat on about this and that. (waving to the Monday night ladies, and my lovely IRL friend Cecilia (daisychics!)). It's all fun to me.

There are separate social groups, too. I just found this out when Patty posted earlier. Lots of interesting options now.

Also, if you want to read their blog, you can just click on their profile. My bookmarks for blogs got really long, and it was hard to manage. It's easier to just go from here.

I wasn't going to get involved in the friends thing. I have had nothing but trouble with friends lists on another forum.

But then someone asked me to be their friend. *blushes and twists foot shyly* :blushing:

And I looked and found she is a fellow Kiwi. So now I have a friend! :tongue_smilie:

I can smell... sort of. It is more ears, throat, eyes, head-achy-ish....

At the very bottom of my blog page is my playlist. It has several songs on it that play randomly so I'm not sure which one you heard. But if you scroll down to it you can manipulate which songs it plays and figure out which one it was. The artist and title are listed for each song so you will be able to get that info.
And yes, I really LIKE playlist! It's a cool internet gadget!:D
