We're moving from an old upright freezer to a chest freezer tomorrow. I have no idea how to keep things in order without shelves. Do you use containers? Or just put the chicken on the left, beef on the right, pork down the middle? I can see that order only lasting until we pull out a few things. Help :bigear:

Well, how *I* do it is to have one freezer for beef and one for chicken and lamb and one for everything else! That probably wasn't much help, was it? My HUGE International Harvester freezer in the back porch has metal dividers. I keep vegies and ice cream on the left, ham and sausage in the middle and berries on the right. I have three baskets that hang in it--colostrum on the left, butter and OJ in the middle and bulk spices on the right. If yours doesn't have dividers, you could stick boxes with the tops off to group things.

You can use plastic milk crates ( I think that's what they are still called. You can get them at walmart, kmart, etc.), or plastic dishpans if the freezer is a small one like mine. Then divide things however you want.
