I asked the other day if it's normal to have to replace a digital camera battery after only 18 months. Come to find out, the battery is fully charging but the camera itself is still totally dead. No rhyme or reason why; from one day to the next it just stopped working altogether. Harrumph!

Joining the digital wave was a big deal for this techno-phone and I tried two other cameras before settling on this one (a Panasonic Lumix). I'm so bummed that I have to buy a new one after such a short time! Plus I can't get the pics from my trip on to my photo blog (I have some from Rome that I really wanted to share) since my computer doesn't have a card reader. Or is there a way I could do it? What do you suggest?

Colleen! I am so sorry! That stinks! My printer has a camera card reader, maybe yours does? Also, duh (to me) - my laptop doesn't have a card reader either. The camera came with a cord that connects to the camera on one side and connects to a computer USB port on the other side. When I turn my camera on, the pictures start transferring. Don't give up! Maybe you can take it back to where you got it or find someone who can help transfer those pics.

Our camera was totally dead - - wouldn't turn on - - and we looked up the cannon repair site on-line and called. We could either bring or send the camera in and it would be fixed for a flat fee of $79 or something similar. There was also a postage fee to have them ship it back to us. Fortunately for us there is a Cannon repair place just an hour away. I did have to pay for the gas and my time but I was able to get repaired and back in my possession in just 2 1/2 hours. It was a simple repair, for them, something was bent inside. We purchased our camera for $450 just a year and a half earlier so a repair was more than worth it. I hope this helps.
