Kingwood area of Houston-where to buy yeast?

My sister has recently moved to Houston from Canada. She has been unable to find yeast in a 1kg (or I guess 2lb?) size bag. She's only been able to find the little indivudual packets. Where do you find yeast in bulk sizes? Where could she look?

The only place I can find yeast in bulk sizes is Sams. I don't live in Houston, but do live in Texas.

I get 1 lb. bags of yeast at Sam's. I think it's by the same people who make Fleshmann's (sp?). I don't think it's RedStar but I could be wrong. I used to be able to buy one pound bags of SAF yeast at Fiesta. If you're ever near one, run in and see if they still carry it. I've seen smaller jars (8 oz, maybe?) of Fleshman's at WalMart.

If all else fails, tell her to call Whole Foods and see if they carry it, and if they do it might be worth a trip in a couple of times a year. Other health food stores ought to carry it too... shouldn't have to go all the way into Whole Foods, I wouldn't think.

The new HEB off of 249 and Louetta carries it and possibly the other HEBs do as well. It's not in the isle with the baking supplies but is sold in the isle with bulk organics. Ask an asst. manager to point it out.
