View Full Version : Help! My computer screen turned itself sideways!

Yesterday I was shutting down my computer to re-boot it because I had lost my signal and it could get the address. As I was shutting it down, it all of a sudden flipped the entire screen sideways! It's there and works fine, but everything is sideways. I'd need to sit my laptop up on end and read it like a book! Even the mouse pad is quirky now. If I move my finger up, it goes right, if I move it left, it goes down.
Any one have ANY ideas? Please? I had a bunch of stuff I needed to do today that was time sensitive! Crud!
Thoughts? Suggestions? Any clues?
Thanks.

Do you have a "degausing" button on your monitor? Push it and watch your screen shake and vibrate, that should bring it back to normal.
Or right click on the desktop and select properties and go into your monitor tab and see if anything changed.
Wait, laptop? Do the desktop thing instead...

My work computer used to do this from time to time. 'Took me forever to figure out how and why! I'm not sure I totally remember how to correct but it had something to do with the following.
It had something to do with the four arrow keys. You hold down CRTL (at least it was one of those kind of keys---CRTL or ALT (or CRTL & ALT!) AND the arrow key for the direction you want the picture to go in! Or something like that---I'm so sorry I can't remember more. But I do know I had this problem occasionally and it was fairly simple to fix it---just can't remember totally what it was!

No advice, but sometimes my head/life feels like it does that. :)

Thanks.A shot if your computer is like mine. Look for an icon on the lower right that looks like a blue video screen. When you mouse over it, it will say "Graphics Media Accelerator". Click on it, and choose "graphics options". Then choose "rotation". Choose "normal".

Thanks you guys! I tried a few things, then had to leave, but luckily my husband figured out what was wrong with it and got it fixed.
What he can't figure out is how I managed to have the computer problems I seem to have!

This happened to us. I guess there is a combination of keys along with the control key that makes this happen. He was fiddling around and didnt' realize he actually pressed these keys.:o It was so annoying because the mouse movements were messed up so I couldn't search the internet to find the answer since navigating was so difficult. Fortunately, my friend was able to do some searching for me to find the solution.
Glad it worked out for you.
