Okay, some questions are easy enough that I can figure them out pretty easily, but I need to know how to do them on my calculator, I think. I thought I could figure them out easily enough because if I already knew the answer, I just had to play with the calculator until I made it work. But that isn't working :glare:
I have a TI-84 Silver, btw.
So if I have 243 raised to the 2/5, instead of doing it in my head, I can do what?
What about 5 to the 5/9?
I'm soooooooooo confused!

243^(2/5)
5^(5/9)
You need the parens!

Thanks Jane....
I was coming back on, after starting supper, to say that I figured it out. How simple! YAY!
I was looking for an X^n or Xsqrt button...there actually IS a way to do Xsqrt under the MATH button but having half the equation wasn't enough....
And the answer is so easy!
Thanks again :)

I found a "Dummies" guide to the TI-83+ that was very helpful. Maybe they have one for the TI-84 Silver too?

there is a complete download users guide available on TI's website that I've found to be invaluable as we moved into precalculus and trig. The stupid little book they package with the calculator is virtually useless IMNSHO. Unless you enjoy this :banghead: lol
Here is the link for the REAL users guide. Ignore the fact that it says part 2....it is really the whole enchilada.
