Hello. I am looking for some horizantal addition and subtraction flashcards. I have not found some. Granted, I have not done an exhaustive search. We have tried to make them at home with indiex cards, but DS can read the answer right through the card!
Does anyone know where I could purchase some horizantal math flash cards (that aren't going to cost a fortune), or what other kind of paper/card would work for making them at home? Maybe that superthick cardstock?

I found that if I write the problem with a darker marker (sharpie) on the front and lightly pencil the anwer on the back, my dd cannot sneak a peak at the anwers. Also, darker colored cardstock is more difficult to see through.:)

Saxon had me make horizontal flash cards and provided the vertical flash cards. Is this why you need the horizontal?

Not flashcards, but have you checked out Math U See's online math drill (http://www.mathusee.com/drill.html)? It is horizontal for all four mathematic operations, and you can set it up to work on specific facts from each table. I love it because I don't have to sit there and make ds nervous, and can teach my other kids while ds does it.

I don't need them for Saxon. I just want DS to learn to "do" math problems horizantally as well as vertically. I only ever learned them vertically and it was such a challenge to see them and do them horizantally. DS is a lot like me when I was his age.

I've often joked we could probably school an entire day using only our flashcards!

Here are a couple of sites I have bookmarked for making my own:

There even may be something made up for you here:

Thanks for those links. I will delve deeper into them later!
