We are thinking of taking a trip to Boston Thanksgiving week. What should we see? How long should we stay? Where should we stay?
Thanks!

The Science Museum was great. The Aquarium not so great. The fish were cool but the price for what we got wasn't.
Paul Revere's house, the Old North Church, Bunker Hill. If you can afford it take a trolley tour. That was fun, convenient and informational.
Oh, the USS Constitution was really neat too.

Consider Plimoth Plantation! They offer several Thanksgiving meals during the day, but they all may be sold out by now. The Mayflower II is open, as are a couple of local museums. There are some hotels in Plymouth, too.
We agree that the Science Museum is wonderful! Our dc love the Aquarium, but it is $$$. The USS Constitution has a pretty nice museum next to it. Bunker Hill Monument and museum are worth a visit, imo. Don't forget the Museum of Fine Arts.
We enjoy Lexington and Concord, but usually when the weather is nicer. :)
We're military and always stay on base so I can't offer advice on any hotels in the area.
There is so much to do in Boston, I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out.
How old are your dc?

We went last August and my kiddos were 4 and nearly 2.
They loved the science museum and Dd still talks about the aquarium.
The tolerated the history tour (there is a walking tour where you follow this red line that is on the sidewalk. Freedom trail?) Dh and I enjoyed that and wished that we could spend more time on it.
They loved seeing the duckling family from "Make Way for Duckling." There are also the swan boats, although I don't know that they will be operating that time of year. But, you can find many of the places listed in the book.

I'm laughing about the aquarium because my family went THREE times in a week. I could not drag my kids out of there!! We spent over 2 hours just parked in the middle, watching the different sharks swim by.
And there's a fabulous seafood restauarnt right across the street too.
There is so much historic stuff to do in Boston. We're going back when the kids are a little older. Touring the waterfront and the ships is pretty good too. Visit the Ironsides. :)
The zoo in Boston is horrid though. I felt so sorry for some of those animals. :(

My dd still talks about the big aquarium that you walk around and that had people swimming in it (they were cleaning it or something in full scuba gear.)

I think we ate there.:D Our hotel was right across the street from the aquarium. It was very nice, but paid for by dh's work....so likely expensive. I don't know.
There was a market/food mall near there that we really enjoyed. Crab rolls. YUMMY....

My favorite place to visit was the Old North Bridge. I loved Lexington Green and Buckman Tavern. Of course, the Freedom Trail in Boston and Paul Revere's house and Faneuil Hall were also fabulous. Whatever you do, don't take a car into Boston. I've driven in San Francisco--lots--and it was a picnic compared to Boston.
Have a great time.

Erica,
My kids are still talking about it too. And that darn restaurant is bothering me... Hey, I still have a kids' cup from there. It's called, "Legal Seafoods." I had a crab cake there that DH and I are still raving about. :D

It'll be cold, but do the duck tours!! They are so much fun and so informative. You can skip Fanueil Hall...overrated IMHO. Legal Seafoods is great but expensive. Jasper White's Summer Shack is also a fun yummy place to eat. Beacon Hill is nice to walk around. 5Wits! Productions had an interactive walk through show all about Ancient Egypt...not sure if it's still going on. We haven't gone yet, but we still have tickets for it. You can google them for more info. Most any of the chain hotels are nice and centrally located so I'd just go by price. Boston also has a wonderful children's museum...I'd say it's geared towards the 3-9 age group. Have fun!!
