View Full Version : Do we need to do cross-posting anymore?

Do most of you do all "new posts?" I posted a link in the high school board because I know many of them do not visit anywhere else. Do the rest of you do a general board reading, or do you just visit one board at a time?

I was linking to something I wrote about my grandfather that I wanted to share here: Shades of White (http://www.shadesofwhite.typepad.com/), but if most folks watch all the posts, then there is no need to cross post, right?

the K-8 board and the general board. I don't try to keep up with all of the new posts because I don't want to wade through a long list of new posts every time someone adds a new reply to something I've seen previously. As I scan the boards, I add posts that interest me to my "subscriptions" and just follow those threads.

I don't review the "new posts" either. I did a cross-post because I had already forgotten about the "new post" option. It looks like most people have stayed with the boards they posted on prior to the big change.

I read the general board.

I read the General, K-8 and High School boards only. But, since most of the posts are on these boards, I don't feel I miss anything, really.

See, I am just the opposite, on the old board I stayed on the General side. With this new one, I am now on all boards via the New Posts section. I don't really like it when I see x-post in a post because it shows up twice for me, but meh, I suppose we all do it differently.

If I were to say anything though, it would be No, don't cross. I think most of us read via New Posts. But who knows.

I use the New Posts function and don't usually go to the different boards directly, so from my perspective, cross-posting is unnecessary. On the other hand, it's not a major inconvenience to me either, particularly if the post is clearly marked as a cross-post.

I always do new posts. If I hover the mouse over the post, I get an idea of what the poster has to say and if I then find it interesting, I click. But I love New Posts. No jumping around and I can determine pretty easily from where it comes.

I do the New Posts, and cross posts are redundant. I do, however, appreciate when people use Quick Link rather than Post Reply so their post is properly linked to the post they're replying to.
