HI - A couple of my older children are quite good at spelling - and I think the time has come for them to concentrate on other areas, and not make spelling a part of the lesson plans.
Before we do that, however, I would like them to take a brief 'review' course, which covers the basic rules of spelling, etc.
Can anyone recommend such a book? One that's not too heavy, doesn't take up much time, and yet, clearly and simply reviews the main spelling rules.
Thankyou!

If so, ABCs and All Their Tricks is a good one but I can't remember (I previewed it from the library) if there are exercises in it.

As a supplement to our spelling program, I use The Alpha List: A Dictionary Focusing on the Logic of English Spelling by Wanda Sanseri and published by Back Home Industries, Inc. The inside cover has the "Basic Spelling Rules in a Nutshell." The main text is a dictionary of the most common misspelled words of the English language. Behind the dictionary are a few pages about phonograms, spelling rules, prefixes, suffixes, building words, and dropping E's. I've found it to be a great resource for me, and I've included some of the common misspelled words in their weekly spelling work.
