Can anyone tell me what the ThinkWrite pages are like in TQ? I am looking for a history program like TQ with lots of living books but I also want a program that lists assignments and questions about the material. Is that what the ThinkWrite pages do? I can't find a sample page of the ThinkWrite pages online.

Thanks.

If you look at the sample online, scroll to page 2, this is what the ThinkWrite looks like.

Hope that helps.

Just going by what you say here, I am not sure TQ is what you would want. Depends on how regularly you want questions. The thinkwrite the previous poster linked is an example of the "big one" she has in each volume. There are only a few of these scattered throughout the volumes. For example, the Middle Ages guide has 11 of them. I have several guides here that we have used, and if you want to pm me, I can give you more specifics.:)

The thinkwrites are writing assignments based on the readings and thinking about the big picture and the context everything goes into.

As we use the Think/Write questions, they are a product of gradual reading and learning. They build on what you have learned up to that point.

So, if you do history a la WTM, you'd be having your children outline or narrate (depending on their ages) as they read, right? That's how we do it. Anyway, when they get to the Think/Write question they have a focus from which to develop an essay. Thus, essay writing is incorporated into TQ.

If you're looking for a Q & A type format, TQ isn't that. TQ relies heavily on discussion, interpreting what you read, and formulating thoughtful ideas and analyses of the historical events you're studying.

When the children are younger, I think you could get by with simple narrations alone. We didn't use Think/Writes when the kids were young, but we sure discussed our reading a lot!
