Mastery learning transcript

We do not do grades at our house, we just plug away til it's learned. So it is difficult for me to do a transcript. Unfortunately, the school is requiring one for my daughter to do dual enrollment.

Do you think this will do? They are all marked P (for Pass) except for the one she has not yet finished. I am also wondering about the last paragraph...


Ninth Grade:

The __________ Homeschool bases its courses on the mastery system rather than a grading system. In this way, the student is assured of learning the material regardless of other circumstances such as sickness.

This student is particularly good at Theology and composition, insightful about literature, a very steady math student, interested in history, and exceptional at home economics.

NEVER do a Pass. It is a big no no and frowned upon by colleges. I would assign a grade then go with points per grade then go from there. A pass pulls down the GPA. It hurts it instead of help your GPA. I strongly urge you to issue a grade that you feel your child is at in each subject matter. Go with a rubric and then figure it out from there.

Just a thought. Often on a transcript one provides a grading key. One might see:

A = 100 - 90
B = 89 - 80
C = 79 - 70
etc.

I think it would be quite legitimate to have your grading key be:

A = Mastery of materials
B = Good knowledge of materials covered
C = something .... blah, blah
F = Substandard grasp on material ...

Just my opinion!
