I have friends who swear by it. I'm not much of a drinker so it will have to taste good! I am fighting a sore throat, head cold, etc. I looked on the web and there are just too many choices. So if you have a recipe that I could send DH to the store for I would sure appreciate it!

'Make tea in boiling water (1 cup) and let steep for 10 min. so tea is strong - add 1Tbs fresh lemon juice, 1 Tbs honey, 1 1/2 jiggers whiskey - stir well- drink as hot as you can stand without burning your mouth - go to bed and cover warmly - sleep - may cause sweat - should improve hoarseness by morning - helps with flu symptoms too."
A friend of mine gave this to me after I had overstressed my vocal chords singing in a Christmas cantata one year. It works very well if you need your voice back and helps you feel better when you have cold/flu symptoms.:)

dh's recipe is a little simpler: quarter cup (3T) each of lemon juice and Canadian whisky (I can't stand Scotch, never tried American); 1t-1T honey to taste. Add hot water and drink.
My children get the toddy without the whisky and it works well, too.
Feel better soon.
