I'm giving myself a makeover. Diet, exercise, haircut, etc. I'm ready for a new me. So, now I'm to purses (or pocketbooks, if you're from another region, lol). What color do you carry?

I have two. First, I have a Coach diaper bag (got it on Freecycle - how lucky was I?!). It's cream with navy leather accents. Matches everything! I only take the diaper bag out of the car if I'm going to be inside for a diaper change. My VERY small leather purse is inside. I pull it out if I need it in a store. My purse has my wallet, lipstick, and cell phone and nothing else fits! I LOVE it!

I've been wanting a new purse too. I'm looking at this one in brown: http://www.buxtonbag.ca/
Does anyone have one and love it (or hate it)?

I am waiting for my Buxton (http://www.buxtonbag.com/?cid=416598) bag. I ordered it about three weeks ago, so it should be here this week.

I know the Buxton bag has been talked about on these boards before. Once you receive it and use it a couple of days, I would really appreciate a review. I'm thinking it might be a good birthday present this year.

I'll be happy to! I am excited about being able to find things in my purse blindfolded! (see infomercial)

It's otherwise known as a diaper bag.

I LOVE red purses. That's usually what I carry. Right now, I'm using a black bag I love.
When I saw the poll, I thought "WHICH one?" LOL
I am addicted to thrift store purse shopping! You can get some cute purses for next to nothing! I would start with basic black and then get a couple that accent colors you wear often. For example, I wear a lot of brown, so I got a turquoise to punch up those outfits. Red is another good choice to pop those navy or black outfits. Of course, you must get some shoes that go with your new purses!
Up to a couple of years ago I never even carried a purse, so this is a new thing for me.

Mine is a red leather mini backpack. I always have to have dd7's diabetes supplies and food at all times. I would rather carry even smaller or have a hobo/bk bag. One day :p

Seriously, I love classic colors, and I love wild ones. I have a range.
I'm including a link to a blog post of mine that has an amazon link to the RuthMichael line of bags. She's a buddy of mine, and her stuff is really cute; I have the 'Slouch Bag', in the zebra stripe. I also have a Carrier, in basic black. My non-RuthMichael bags run the gamut; a gargantuan fuschia and red Coach purse that was deeply discounted, a fuzzy leopard print handbag that my grandmother was going to get rid of, and a black nylon messenger bag, are some of the choices. (I like bags, lol.)
You'll have to scroll to the bottom of the post to see the link, and yes, it's an amazon affiliate link, so I get a kickback if you click and buy. (Just as an aside, if you look at the descriptions for the items, on amazon, they're the same as what's found in her catalog...which I wrote. But I did *NOT* make the typos. For some reason, she had to plug the copy into their site, and there were some formatting errors. Sorry...just had to say that, lol.)
Her stuff is pricey (mine were birthday gifts)...but it's really well-made. If you're retooling your image, and looking to be really good to yourself, lol, this is the stuff.

It WILL happen!!! My ds carries an epi-pen and anti-seizure meds at all times. Since he now has activities without me, we started putting his meds in his own bag!!! It still fits in our general "diaper bag," but he carries it himself most of the time, leaving me to carry a really cute bag for myself!!!

What color do you carry? My neutral handbag (either black or brown -- and only changed when it falls apart) is the new me. When I was younger, I used to change handbags to match my outfits, shoes, seasons, etc. But the new, more mature me decided that wasn't worth the trouble. Now my handbag is utilitarian and nothing more. Ah, the freedom!

that neutral changes depending on the time of year, even in parts of the country where you can't actually tell that the season has changed :-)
Most of the time I use a leather purse, preferably one that is that reddish-brown color, as in the signature Aigner (some of the Southern folks will know what that is).
I also have a Longaberger basket purse that I use in the summer sometimes; and I have a couple of dressier purses that I use when I'm wearing dressier clothes. Those will most often match my shoes. This is not a problem as I usually buy navy or black dressy shoes.
Just for fun, I have a bright turquoise Hawaiian print purse that I sometimes use in the summer :-)
I like small purses, too. I decided a long time ago that I don't need to carry everything in the entire known world in my purse;)

I would never spend much time thinking about these sorts of things for myself! The purse I carry right now is a black leopard print L.C.
She also likes to buy anything "in" from Coach.
What a good MIL I have!!! :D

Ever since my purse was stolen out of our car at the beach about fifteen years ago, I have vowed not to spend lots of money on a purse. (I had put an item of clothing over the purse, but later my husband went back to the car and removed that very item, leaving my purse exposed. Try getting a broken window fixed late afternoon on New Year's Eve in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Just try!)
So, I carry something from Wal-Mart or Target. Something that I wouldn't mind replacing if necessary.
Don't want to be a downer on the thread, but just beware a little.

I love, love, love this bag! I got it about 6 years ago, when they weren't super popular. Now people know all about them.:(
I would love to get another - with their checkerboard colors, but the prices have also gone up in the last 6 years. Maybe some day, when I have $200 or so to blow.
Mine is bright red (which hopefully this link (http://www.seatbeltbags.com/Medium_Tote%20Zip_P26C6.cfm#) will show). If it doesn't show the red, just place your curser over the red box and it will show what it looks like.

I love all things black and white toile. Purse, wallet, diaper bag, smaller diaper bag, all toile. I also have a black woven "seat belt" bag with a polka dot bow.
Ocassionallhandbags.com has lots of cute bags. I love sally Spicer as well. Especially the dragon fly prints. I'm a purse girl. Could care less about shoes! :p

I have probably 30 various bags. Most days I use my Vera Wang black over the shoulder bag (I get lots of compliments on that bag) but I have purple to red to green......
I do use neutrals most of the time, but it must match my shoes......no way can I walk out the door with a brown bag and black shoes.
Neutral during the summer is cream or white, fall is brown, winter is black and spring is cream usually.
My favorite brands are Vera Wang, Fossil, Coach
You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to purses......

I'm not very trendy anymore: my everyday 'purse' is a black leather backpack - very tailored and slim (NOT for books) with one larger zippered part (hold an 8.5x11 pages folded in HALF) and one smaller part that has pockets like a wallet.
I've had the buxton bag. It works like the commercials say, but it looked clunky to me and not as tailored as my backpack purse. And it's REALLY clunky when you fill it up. But it's handy when traveling because it really does organize a lot of stuff - when traveling away from home I like to carry that extra stuff - but not for everyday.

My only reqirements were that it had three outside pockets. One for my cell phone, one for my keys and one for my coin purse. Checkbook and credit card holder goes inside. I love it but it is very heavy. If I could fiond something like this that was lighter I would go with it. I would also consider a red or burgandy purse but I don't see that happening anytime in the near future as I buy a new ourse about once every ten years wether I need it or not.

I **love** my Brighton organizer purse. They're pretty expensive when they're new, but you can get them for more reasonable prices when they're gently used. A friend of mine resells hers on ebay when she's tired of them, and buys a "new" one (new to her, anyway). Take a look on ebay if you're interested in them.

I have a pink Hello Kitty purse that I always get compliments on because it is sooo cute.
In the summer I generally go with a Hawaii themed or Straw bag purse for the summer fun of it.:)

Pretty much all of my purses are black, brown or patterns of that. I'm very seriously considering my next one to be a beautiful red leather one though. I'm kinda excited. ;) My favorites are Brighton and Coach. The red one I'm looking at is Coach.

For fall and winter, I carry a black or brown bag. This year's bag is a black Tommy Hilfiger that's faux croc. I got it at TJMaxx for $25. I love it! For spring and summer, I carry something bright and cute. This past spring and summer, I carried a cute embroidered Liz Claiborne bag (again, from TJMaxx). I love Liz or Tommy bags, but only if I can get them cheap. :D

First off, I have to say that where I grew up it was a purse and where I live now it's a pocketbook. However, I carry something very, very small with everything in it, but I wear it, not carry it. Since having children I have to wear it so I don't lose it.

That's so funny! Me too! When I first heard it called a "pocketbook" I was expecting a wallet. I love learning about the differences in what things are called in various regions of the US. Very interesting.
I either carry a small black or brown leather purse with a long strap so I can wear it across my body. I hate having to carry a purse.
