And other reflections from a day off, by Rebecca in GA.

DH took our three children away for the day, to the mountains or somewhere, and left me here with the dog. During my lovely day, I have not lifted one finger to housework nor any but the basics of caring for myself. Instead, I watched "High Society" and ate my lunch all by myself, then took a long, loooonnnggg nap and a deep bath.

I discovered:

1. Frank Sinatra was a funny dude. I laughed until I cried at his scene with Celeste Holm in the wedding gift display ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?") and his drunk scene with Bing Crosby in the library/bar ("What a Swell Party This Is"). Very cute movie!

2. Kashi thin crust garlic and tomato pizza is even better cold and left over.

3. I like my dog better when he's quiet, asleep and keeping my feet warm during a nap than when he's awake digging in the trash or doing his high-pitched yap thing.

4. I seriously need some quiet to recharge occasionally and I mean to ask for some every few weeks.

That is all. :)

I love old musicals. If you liked "High Society" you'd like "On the Town", "Take Me out to the Ballgame" (which my dh likes - and he doesn't care for musicals), and "Anchors Aweigh" - all Frank Sinatra movies (from his younger years).

Isn't that the one where he sings "You're Sensational" to Grace Kelly?

I think Frank might be a little tipsy at the time, but, man I loved that song. There was something both passionate and pathetic about that scene.

I may be way off...it's been years since I've seen it.

Oh, for the days when I got to watch movies other than:

The Aristocats
Barbie's Princess and the Pauper
Charlotte's Web

Those are the titles of most recently viewed movies!;)
