We were reading about atoms today, & 1yo got up from her nap while dc were building water molecules. 1yo got legos instead, lol, but she kept pointing at the book, saying, "B'oon, b'oon!"

She thought the atoms on the cover looked like balloons. So I told her they were atoms. For the rest of the day, she tootled around saying, "Atom, atom." Of course, I think she's actually talking about herself. Her name is Abby, & she calls herself "Abbum." Daddy is "Daddum."

Dd5 has been doing science w/ ds7, too. She writes reports, draws illustrations, etc. One day, she drew a picture of unicorns flying up to see bacteria floating in a drop of water that was falling from a cloud. Today she drew 2 unicorns discoursing about the nature of atoms. Using perspective (which I haven't taught!) to make one look further away & dots to illustrate the invisible atoms, she also decided to give the student-unicorn a disbelieving reply: "You must be teasing."

And in case you need to know, MOL WQWLS = molecules.

Because the endings of the words are certainly second declension masculine nouns? "Abbum" is a perfect 2nd declension masc. noun (even though she's a girl---you can teach her "Abba, Abbae, Abbae, Abbam, Abba" later! But---Daddum is perfect! "Daddum, Daddi, Daddo, Daddum, Daddo" really works---and is sounds so good with each different inflection!

She's gifted indeed!

I thought the "-us" ending was masculine and the "-um" is neuter. That means the ending should work for herself as well as her "Daddo":lol:

Aubrey: Wow! (at your kids :001_smile:) You're doing a great job, Mama!
