Following on from another thread got me thinking and I got the catalogue out-yet again!
We are pretty much covered for 1st grade LA and will be using FLL and WWE together with early readers from the library and OPGTR and AAS.

However I like their book selections and will probably order some from them but I was wondering whether any of their teaching guides are a help to talking about and analysing the books with your child? Or do you just read aloud to the child? I don't need schedules particularly but other help would be useful.

I started out with SL and just could not do it. The time and expense were both too much. I found a really good compromise by getting Beautiful (http://www.bfbooks.com/s.nl/it.A/id.288/.f?sc=2&category=2) Feet's Guide to Character through Literature (http://www.bfbooks.com/s.nl/it.A/id.288/.f?sc=2&category=2). Many of the books that are used in SL cores are included, but I don't feel like I have too many or have to rush through them, and they are more age-appropriate (some of the K books in SL are in the grade 4-6 list for Beautiful Feet.) The guide has questions to ask your child, discussions to have, etc. (scriptures to read are included for some books) all specifically for building character. For only $15 you get this for Primary and Intermediate levels. I am so happy with this buy!!

I don't see any samples. Let me know if there is a particular book you are curious about and I can type it out for you via PM.
