There's a box at the bottom of the search list with a check mark for searching child forums, too. Do they exist? Where are they?

Child forums refer to forums "under" or within other forums - the sub forums. The only ones I see on this board are the for sale and wtb forums that are under the Sale and Swap forum. It has nothing to do with actual children. Hope that made sense. :)
Oops. There's another one under the networking forum I just noticed.

I don't believe they exist. The original board had a forum for the kids to post in, but it didn't work very well.

Yes, this is what it means. I am an admin on a board just like this one, and have created many "child forums" myself. That is the term used by vbulletin for those forums. :)
Here is a link to a discussion about it at vbulletin's boards.

What happened to the kid forum, I would love my dd to post here with WTm dc's, plus this board is so well monitored, that I would feel safe.

It didn't move over here when they changed formats. The boards were not all that well monitored, and it just didn't go all that well.

My dc might enjoy it. I'm afraid it would be too much work for moderators though. you have to really watch what information they put out there so closely.

So true. Plus, these boards are not private. Anyone on the internet can search and read the posts. It is a shame that too many good things go by the wayside because of bad people.
