I have a son that is dyslexic and am wondering which of these program he would more likely have success with. Has anyone compared the two programs? Which is more kid friendly? Have you had success or problems with retention in either program?

We are using and love JAG. I have looked at GWG, but didn't seriously consider it for at the levels JAG is written for. At the younger levels I didn't care for how many hints were going to the answers (parts underlined or in bold), but even from the samples I could see that this doesn't continue.

I am not sure either program would be especially good for a Dyslexic. JAG encourages the use of 3x5 cards, which give you instant cheat sheets (ones that are OK to use), which would help a child who tended to freeze up. I made one for each lesson for my dd so she can go through them in order. In JAG the order is important and I didn't want her to have to remember it on her own. She is not dyslexic or just a mild visual dyslexic. I am also a visual dyslexic and find JAG easier to understand that anything I covered as a child. Though I don't know if that says something about JAG or my PS education. :001_huh:

Another option, if your ds is extremely hands on, is Grammar Punk. Given so many dyslexic programs are multi-sensory I have seriously considered trying it. But JAG is working well for now and I am out of $$, LOL!
