We found out I had a fibroid in my uterus when I went for my first OB visit. Size was a lot greater than dates, so my OB did an U/S and found the fibroid. She said it shouldn't really be an issue for the pregnancy due to its placement.

I've had a very non-eventful pregnancy up until this morning when a "ripping" pain in my abdomen brought me to my knees. More on my hospital visit at my blog, but my question for y'all...are fibroids really that painful? I still can't walk normally without some discomfort/pain. Am I going to have to deal with this constantly for the next 7 weeks or will it come and go?

(I know, I should have asked my doctor or nurse, but I was anxious to leave the hospital and I figured you all could tell me :001_smile:)

I had a large fibroid that caused a lot of pain with my first pregnancy. It only lasted a few days, and I never had any further problems.

Fibroids do often degenerate during pregnancy, but it's usually nothing more than a painful nuisance. Google "fibroid degeneration pregnancy" for more information. Hope you're feeling better soon.

That must have been the scariest. (((hugs))) I've no info or help for the fibroid. Prayers that the pain eases off more and a happy healthy baby is born.

That sounds like no fun AT ALL. I have no info for you, just lots of tea, sympathy and :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:.

Could be the uterus is expanding (or Jr. is kicking) and the fibroid is not wanting to also expand! I had scar tissue (adhesions) from fibroid removal that got stretched when I was carrying twins and I can relate to the PAIN! I think I started to channel my inner dock worker as it drove me to very unladylike utterances!!!!!!

Ouch! I hope the pain stops soon. but do let the doctor now about it to be sure - my first o.b. (the one who left scar tissue) poo-poohed my reports of pain and did nothing by make notes in her chart (I saw it) that I was a hypochondriac.
The next o.b. (we wanted to leave the first one anyway, as she refused to consider natural childbirth for first time mothers) pulled my hospital charts from my fibroid removal and figured out what the pain was. Just knowing it was not something dire helped a great deal!

Thank you! It helped to have something specific to Google...and to know I'm probably not going to have to deal with it constantly for the next 7 weeks!
