This May-June-July I will head west with my boys for about an 8 week camping-exploration trip. Two summers ago we headed west for almost 7 weeks and visited Rocky Mts National Park, Dinosaur, Salt Lake City, Craters of the Moon, Tetons, Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave and a few other places in-between. I mention that cause we are interested in heading to the SW this time.
Don't I have a great DH who says----GO, GO, enjoy! So we are! We plan to leave May 15th and return mid to late July.
On our list we have:
Stop at my sister's home north of Dallas, TX on the OK border.
Carlsbad Caverns NP
Guadalupe Mts NP (is this a place to stop?)
White Sands NP
Saquaro NP
Petrified Forest NP
Joshua Tree NP
Sequoia NP
Yosemite NP
Death Valley NP
Grand Canyon NP
Zion NP
Bryce NP
Arches NP or Canyonlands NP
Mesa Verde NP
Great Sand Dunes NP
Of course there's so many, many other places we could visit too. And we are trying to narrow our list down, and figure out approximately how many days we might spend at each place. Our last trip west was done without a schedule and we all really loved that. I'm looking over this long list of places and thinking that we have tooooooooo many places. We do want to see the Pacific too, but everytime I suggest that we leave CA out for another summer trip the boys both cry, No.
