For a couple of months I have been recieving oodles of text messages asking who I am, requests for pictures, and a few obscene notes. I get calls from people returning calls I never made. I have no idea who any of these people are. I never text and I rarely use my phone. I am just not a phone person, despite the picture in my profile.

What is going on? Am I paying for these calls that I never made and the ones I am recieving?

Dh took pnone to subscriber to find out, but I don't think he asked the right questions. They just took my phone from him and blocked the already used #s. The area codes are from all over the place. I just deleted 10 texts messages yesterday and they are coming in today and each day at a faster rate all the time.

I am in the dark and in need of enlightenment.

We'd get calls from people we didn't know and text messages from all sorts of people. They did eventually stop once I put the phone on the federal no-call list. Beware, the calls will be charged to you. All the text messages especially unless you have a program that allows you to have free text messaging. It sounds like your husband did make a wise decision and blocking the old numbers is very helpful but I think you should put your phone on the no call books. A lot of our text messaging were from telemarketers.

You can get it blocked entirely. DH had a problem with his old cell phone, back when it was his business line, because he had somehow been put on a "joke a day" subscription which was BOTH charging him for each text message AND had a subscription fee! It was ridiculous -- as though anyone would pay $10 a month for old (really old and really bad) jokes! There was a long and complicated way to "cancel" the subscription, but after I did all that and they kept coming we just had the text service blocked completely. There were no problems after that.
