My dd will be 13 later this spring, is just over 5 feet tall and weighs a whopping 80 pounds. She's healthy as a horse, this is just her build right now. She still fits a size 12 kids in width, but her legs are too long. Are there any types of pants she might be able to fit into? Her curves are firmly in-process, but things are progressing at a very slow rate for her!

Gymboree, Gap and Old Navy all sell slim pants on their sites. Often those styles are left for clearances because they don't sell out as quickly. You might try Old Navy first. You can also look for these same styles on eBay. HTH!

This was my advice too! I feel for her, I was a size 0 and wore long length in everything, it was hard to find clothes. My oldest is 10 wears a size 12L and slim and we have had best success at Old Navy. Melissel is correct about they always seem to have the long/skinny stuff on clearance. I walked out last week with brand new 12L and slim pants for dd and they were on clearance down to $4.99 a pair.

Try Lands' End, they have slims, also.

My second dd, at 11, is similarly built. She wears a women's 2. (2!!) :) They are loose on her a bit, but the waist fits her. Women's sizes, I believe, go down to zero (which I honestly find a funny name for a size). I would take her to a store that carries that size and have her try them on.

HTH!
Warmly,
Kate

My daughter is 15 and weighs 85 pounds. She is 4'10" tall. She fits into a size 12 kids or a size 0 in adults. You may want to take your daughter to a teen store. They have size 0 that will fit her and many of the stores have tall sizes available. My dd has to look to find pants that are not low riders but they are out there. Good luck!:)

The stores will sometimes have a 00, often you must order it online. If it doesn't fit, or you don't like them; you can return/exchange them in store. You can also try the 0's, but in my experience a 12 girls will fit into the 00.

Thanks--this is a great start. I'd never even heard of a 00 before! And I'll look at slims. She's never been large, but didn't used to be thin enough for slims before--things change!

Last year when my dd was a freshman she was just under 5 feet tall and 79 pounds. It was hard to find clothes that fit. (It still is but she has gained 5 pounds and 2 inches so it is slightly easier this year). We found that certain jeans at Kohls in size zero would fit her. She also shops at Aeropostle and gets a 0 or 00. They also come in short, average or long length so hopefuly one of those would fit. My dd found that once she went into junior sizes the regular jeans were too long but the short ones fit well.

Calvin is 4'11" and weighs 66 pounds. Lands' End slim fits him pretty well.

Try Penney's Arizona jeans. My long-legged super-skinny can wear those. We also found Rockies at a Western store back when my now 222yo was a Rodeo Princess. They were expensive, but long enough and they carried them in 00.

I was built more like this, but in a girl's form. I think I was still in the 60s in pounds when I was 5 feet. I have no idea how my mother clothed me, but it would be out of date.

Thanks for even more suggestions. A great help for someone who loathes to shop and has no idea of how to do this. By the time I was at her stage, I was taller than my mother who is 5 ft 6. My dd is unlikely to ever be taller than her mother!

I asked the same question a few months ago for my nearly-12 yo who is the same size. We had tried Aeropostale, adn although they fit great, they were a little too low. :o

GAP and American Eagle were the favorites recommended. GAP worked out well.

My wife is 5'2 95 lbs. That's normal in CHina. I told her when she went to the US, she would have to shop in the children's departement. She didn't like that too much and slugged me. Granted I was kidding around, the thing is though that I didn't know until I read this thread if I was actually telling the truth or not.

My closest friend when I was a junior in San Francisco was that height and about that weight--she shopped in the children's department. This was in the 1970s when sizes were smaller than now (vanity sizing hadn't gone as far as it has now.) She was Caucasian, but I had Asian friends doing the same thing.

Or you could try a brand of jeans that seem to run small; Lei & Zanadi are two brands I can think of. When EK wore 14S, she could sometimes wear 14R or even 16R in those brands. I seem to remember that some Lei and Zanadi styles were way longer than most others, too. EK has been on the tall side, so we've had the same problem as you.

Some have suggested Old Navy. In our experience, Old Navy runs large. In fact, EK is wearing a pair of size 2 Old Navy jeans today. She normally wears a 3 or a 5 in other brands, such as Lei. She can also wear a 16S in Arizona (JC Penney) and a few others IF they are long enough.
