I had posted earlier about my son who is in special ed and today started his first day at school. He is in a combined 4th/5th grade classroom with 12 other kids, a teacher and 3 or 4 aides. Well, I was wondering all day how he did. Dh is off on Thurs and Fridays so he, I and our dd that we still homeschool all went way down to the corner to wait for the bus bringing ds home. The bus driver came off the bus, introduced himself and said that he can drop our son off in front of our house instead of the corner, yay.
Also, as we were walking home, one of our neighbors that we had not met before, came out of her house and yelled our son's name. Turns out that she is one of the aides in his classroom, she was very nice.
Aanyway, ds said that he loved his day at school. Oh, I forgot to mention that earlier in the afternoon, while the kids were in one of their "specials, ex. art" his teacher had called me to talk about my son. She said that the only problems that he seemed to have was 1. when he finished for ex. language arts, he wanted to start math and she had to keep explaining to him that there were set times for each class (a major advantage with homeschooling). Too bad that he will have to get used to that. and 2. she read the class a story and then told them to draw a picture of what she read and my son said that he had not been listening so could not do the drawing. Guess I will have to talk to him about listening in class (that was always a problem that I had while homeschooling him so the teacher's complaint was nothing new to me)
But mostly a positive day for him and me.
