I am basically new to this board (I posted once a few years ago). Does anybody have any input about Classical Conversations - the method where you get together once a week with other homeschoolers for memory work in different subjects? Has your experience been successful? I would love to know - we have one starting in our area. Thanks.

I cannot offer any input as our area is just starting one now and I have joined it. I like the concept. My only word of caution/advice is remember, this year is the first so there is bound to be a large learning curve for all involved. KWIM? I think ours is going to be great! (Maybe with a few kinks though :tongue_smilie:) Sorry, couldn't be more help.

Thanks!
You might want to cross-post to the Curriculum board to get more input. Or try again tomorrow. I know there are others who have been involved or are still involved with CC here. Angela in Ohio comes to mind, you might search for her past posts on CC.

Hi!
I am involved in our local CC, but I'm the director, so my opinion will be biased, as I think it is great. :) We start Friday with our brand new campus. :w00t: Not one of us has ever seen a CC campus, but we loved the idea so much we jumped in anyway, and we haven't been disappointed so far.
As far as it being a new campus, yes there is a learning curve, but I truly think that that will only be for a week or two. The support and training from CC are great, and there is a pattern to the days, so once tutors get a week or so under their belts, they should be in full swing.

As a previous poster mentioned, search the K-8 board. CC has come up several times, and folks have lots of different opinions. Here's one thread (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25186&highlight=classical+conversations), here's another (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36842&highlight=classical+conversations), and another (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43878&highlight=classical+conversations), and another (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34322&highlight=classical+conversations). That should get you started, anyway. ;) There are a ton of other relevant threads.
Good luck making a decision! :001_smile:
