Help me figure out this avatar thing, please!

If I have a photo I want to use, do I have to upload it somewhere? Do I have to resize it? Help!

You'll need to resize it because it should only be 80 pixels x 80 pixels. You can use photoshop if you have it. If you don't have photoshop, there are tons of avatar sizers on the internet that make it really easy to resize your picture. Here's one as an example and it's from pcdownloadworld which is a reasonably safe site to download stuff from: http://www.pcdownloadworld.com/prgdb/avatar-sizer.htm

You don't have to upload it to an offsite host site because you can upload the avatar right in your control panel. When you go to change my avatar there is a box to upload your own avatar, just use that.
