These were recommended as a way to help familiarize a homeschool student with test taking skills, etc. Have any of you used them? What do you think?

They help the child's thinking skills. It is a fun thing. My children enjoy them. They are like fun time.
Blessings in your homeschool journey!
Sincerely,
Karen

I'm using them with my 3 children. They ask to do them. My son was sitting in time out tonight babbling to himself about straight and curved. That is one thing he has learned in Building Thinking Skills.

We use them, though I've never heard that they prepare for test-taking skills. Hmmm. maybe so; I've just never considered it from that perspective. My favorite is Level 3 Verbal. For one dc, they turned out to be busywork, they fit another dc very well and another dc *needed* some busywork (!) because he raced through his assignments so quickly!

I started using them this year with both kids. I would think that they would help with test taking skills. The instructions are worded like they are in standardized tests. The problems definitely require the student to think in a new way because they aren't like their other problems in math books, etc. For example, one page will show four or five shapes and the student has to tell how many right angles each shape has or how many lines in each shape are the same length. Nothing too hard, just not often asked.
