View Full Version : Question for Right Start Math users - Geometry....

I was told recently that this program could be used by an older child. Is that right? I always thought Right Start was for younger kids.
My dd, 7th grade, struggles in math and I'm considering switching next year to something else - currently using TT Math 7, but not convinced I want to go into Pre-Algebra - might be too much. I'm curious if this program would fit with no Right Start background?

Couple things. You can see samples on RS's website. (I assume they have samples for the geometry.) It does include some computation, but not enough to just hold you for the entire year. Dr. Cotter recommends doing Challenge Math by Zacarro along with it. Because your dd struggles with math, you might even consider getting the Transitions book and going back through all the basics. What is it she's struggling with? If you do the geometry but don't use that time to also repair her weak spots, she'll be no better off. I agree though that Geometry plus something else might make for a great year, especially if she LIKES geometry and drawing. My dd has always enjoyed the geometry lessons in RS, so I have RS G in the wings for her to use at some point. I know not every dc enjoys geometry and drawing, so it might not be such an enjoyable change of pace to everyone.
