What methods do you use to determine if your child is advancing? At which age did you see a tremendous milestone? I saw a huge milestone between 6th and 7th grade- what a difference between this year and last year.;)

...I determine how my kids advance. On the first day of school I have them fill it out and we do it again on the last day. Just in comparing their handwriting I can see how much they've advanced.

I also have done standardized testing with my oldest ds, but I tell him that it won't tell me anything I don't already know. Still, it's been a good experience for him and has given me "bragging rights" with doubtful or suspicious grandparents (actually, they've been great and very supportive of our homeschooling, but didn't start out that way).
