What are your favorite, tried and true, newborn patterns?

Need ideas.

Called the Log Cabin Blanket in Urban Knitting. I have made a whole bunch of these. They knit up quickly, are synthetic but not obnoxious feeling, not all that expensive to make, and look really, really nice when they are finished.

I haven't made anything, yet. But my cousin and his wife are expecting their first around New Years. I am seriously considering the Baby Surprise Jacket that I have seen on Ravelry. It is adorable!

I haven't made anything, yet. But my cousin and his wife are expecting their first around New Years. I am seriously considering the Baby Surprise Jacket that I have seen on Ravelry. It is adorable!

I've made the Baby Surprise Jacket and it's great. When I'm knitting for a baby, I like to make a size 2T sweater. That way, the baby has something warm and fuzzy after he/she grows up a bit. I like the Moss Stitch Chenille Jacket in the book "Knitter's Stash". Here's a couple of pictures:
