My mom (currently under hospice care for cancer) is having a hard time swallowing. We're down to liquids. However, lately the "sweetness" of things is bothering her. I don't know why. She can drink milk, but not Ensure or Gatorade. I can't think of anything that has any added nutrition that isn't sweetened. Any ideas?
Of course, we can run this by the nurses, but their suggestions were the usual: Pedialyte, Ensure, etc. I thought the Hive Mind might have a tidbit for us.
Yesterday, we blended banana and peanut butter in her milk, and we were celebrating that she could keep it down!

I am assuming it would not be sweet(maybe-I'm not sure). Also, do you think she could tolerate V-8 or another type of vegetable juice? Other than that I have no more advice, just hugs (((Tanya))). My mother had cancer and it always touches my heart when someone else is going through it.

Are you looking for high-calorie stuff? If you put some cashews in some liquid (maybe 2 c. liquid to 1 c. cashews) and let it blend for a long time (2+ min.) it will come out very creamy and not too sweet. It could be flavored with whatever she can tolerate.
Instant mashed potatoes, made on the runny side (ewww to most people, but maybe ok for your mom) Season with gravy?
I just wanted to give you a hug.

GNC sells products for body builders such as protein supplements and meal replacements in powdered and liquid form. Some of them are unsweetened.

Nutrition aside, once my father declared he had two weeks to live, he took in only root beer floats.
I mix unsweeted cocoa powder into desserts I want to unsweeten.
